Pirates 3 - Giants 1

Madison Bumgarner, one of the Giant's best pitchers this year, took a shutout into the seventh inning, but lost both the shutout and the game when he gave up a three-run homer. His final line: 3 runs on 7 hits over 8 innings.

Brandon Belt singled with two outs in the first inning, and avoided being picked off. He got no further than that.

After he doubled in the fourth inning, Buster Posey scored the Giants' only run -- the photo below shows another, less productive swing. Gregor Blanco didn't do much at the plate, but did make a nice catch at the wall in centerfield.

AT&T park

One of my favorite parts of AT&T park -- the Coca Cola bottle and the baseball glove behind the bleachers. The Coke bottle is 80 feet long and houses a kid's slide. The glove is a steel and fiberglass representation of a 1927 four-finger baseball glove. To my knowledge, no one has ever hit that glove with a ball from home plate.

This was the crucial seventh inning. It started with two Pirate singles, followed by a successful bunt to Pablo Sandoval on the third base side, pictured.

Turns out the sacrifice wasn't necessary. The next batter, Clint Barmes, hit a three-run homer.

Lou Seal's rally cap wasn't enough.
