Mount Whitney

The Drive Home

November 15, 2016

Face RockThat's Mount Whitney in the photo above, the high point of what we needed to get up and over in order to reach home - the Sierra Nevada mountains.

We drove along the eastern side of the mountains on Highway 395, stopping at one of Mike's favorite spots, Lone Pine, CA - home of the Movie Museum and the entrance to the Alabama Hills. That's Face Rock, one of the many rock formations in those hills and a necessary photo op whenever Mike visits. Two more scenes from the Alabama Hills below.

Tioga Pass was clear and afforded some lovely views of the high country in Yosemite National Park.

Coming down on the other side, we spent a final night on the road in Oakdale before arriving at home.
