As part of his work for Zimmerman-Graeff & Müller, Andy has been able to visit California in December for each of the past few years. He and colleagues from Germany come to visit a few of the large wine producers in the central California valley.
In 2013, Andy started and ended his trip by spending the weekend with us, and we went up into the local hills and over to the coast several times.

On his first full day in California, we drove over to Capitola Beach. It was too cold to surf, but we enjoyed a sunny day and a beautiful drive up the coast on Highway 1.

On the day before Andy left to go to Fresno, we drove up into the local hills, and took a short walk in the Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve. Andy is looking up at Methuselah. At over 1800 years old, Methuselah is one of the last remaining old-growth redwood trees in the area.

Finally, after Andy returned from the central valley, we went back to Capitola, and this time the surf conditions were good. Andy had his chance to go surfing! That's him, clinging to his board in front of the wave.

Also during his first weekend, Andy got to try his hand at kayaking, borrowing a kayak from one of Mike's friends. He and Mike went out on the water - Mike took these two pictures. |
