Visit to Waikiki

Kahanomoku popularized surfing in
Hawaii in the early 1900s. |

We rented a car for one day and drove around the island of Oahu. Mike wanted to snorkle at this cove, Hanauma Bay, a Marine Nature Preserve. Leaving Hanauma, we went in search of the "Shrimp Shack" and found it along the north shore of the island. Pictures of the famous home of spicy shrimp, and of the beach directly across the street, are below. |

Back along Waikiki, the Surfrider Hotel was
a favorite place to have lunch. |

This statue celebrates the Hawaiian
children's story of Makua and Kila. We also vacationed on the "Big Island" of
Hawaii in the fall of 2010 (photos). |
