October, 2010 |
A week on the Big Island of Hawaii - October 18 through October 22, 2010. Just Mike and me, vacationing in the lap of tropical luxury. Over the course of that week, we relaxed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort on the western coast (Kona), our home base and point of departure for trips to explore the rest of the island of Hawaii. The western side is warm and dry, cooled by the pacific tradewinds. The eastern side of the island (where Hilo is located) is very wet and tropical. In between are several volcanoes, the backbone of this island chain. And we even occasionally saw a few innings of the National League Championship Series. Yes, indeed, the Giants DID win the pennant (and, after we got back, they won it all!). We took a lot of pictures, and some of the best follow below (all of these pictures are the product of my new I-Phone3 - if you're wondering why you don't see me in any of these pictures, that's the reason). By clicking on the thumbnails below, you will see larger images - often two or three on a page. I hope you enjoy them. | |||
It was a lovely vacation. |
