The photo above was taken in Marienplatz, Munich's main square and the focal point of our short visit. There were several beautiful churches around Marienplatz, and a slightly longer walk took us to some of Munich's famous museums, including the Neue Pinakothek with its important collection of 18th and 19th century European art. Each of these provided enough photos to generate its own page, and both are linked here.
At this time of year, Marienplatz is the site of a vast Christmas Market. The clock tower is part of the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall), built between 1868 and 1909. The photo below, left, is a closer view of the famous Glockenspiel clock in the Rathaus tower (it does its thing twice each day and, yes, I watched it dance).
The two pictures below the Glockenspiel tower were taken in the interior courtyard of the Neues Rathaus.

Ornaments galore, lots of people, food, music and the everpresent Glühwein - mugs of warm, spiced wine

We took a train from Bingen to Munich and back. Andy and Carmen gave us the tickets as a Christmas present.
Everything about the German train system is clean and efficient. It's a great way to get around.
