And on the way home . . .
we stopped at Duarte's in Pescadero,
a favorite spot on the coast, for an early dinner
and
some of their wonderful homemade pie.
Mike had heard of a mile-long trail along the beach south of Pescadero.
We found it at Bean Hollow State Beach. But first, we had to get over to the ocean. We drove up and over through the Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, where Mike pointed out a special place - Audrey Rust Point, named for a local open space activist and administrator. From this spot just off the road, you can see peaks and ridgelines stretching to the ocean.
The nature trail at Bean Hollow wove its way through beach grasses and shrubs just above the shore, highlighting the plants and animals that call this special environment home.
