Moving to Ohio

October 10 - 14,  2022

Above left, our house of 30+ years in Los Altos, California;  right, our new home in Kent, Ohio.

It was something I never thought we'd do, but in the summer of 2022, we purchased the condominium in Kent, Ohio that had belonged to Mike's parents and decided to pack up and move.

Our house in Los Altos had served us very well, and it was not an easy decision to leave.

On Monday, Oct. 10, the first truck backed into our driveway. A second truck was needed
on Tuesday to finish the job. On Tuesday afternoon, we began our road trip to Ohio.

Emerald City Reno dinner
We made the trip in Mike's pickup truck, loaded with what we would need for a month or two while we fixed up the condo. On our first night, we stopped for pizza in Reno, Nevada.

After dinner, I took this picture of a casino - we were in Oz's Emerald City.

Our routine involved getting up before dawn and driving for a few hours before stopping for breakfast.

Road to Ohio
After three days of steady and uneventful driving, we ran into our first big traffic jam just south of Chicago. We pushed through it and late Friday night, October 14, we pulled into Cindy and Dave's driveway in Kent, Ohio.

We stayed with them for over two months, while we got our new home ready for the delivery of our furniture.

We had arrived!
